Supermarkets
There is a small store on the Reserve called ''On the spot'' This store is very expensive as it's the only one in the area, I can recommed the real fruits icecream and frozen yoghurt they make on the spot, In 2017 the cost was $5 NZ dollars but deffnitly worth it. Because of the regions micro climate, the hot long days and cool nights make it the perfect enviroment for fruit to flourish. You will see fresh fruit being sold everywhere Make the most of the apples & berries!
Although there isn't a big chain supermartket here about a 15 minute drive away there are plenty to choose from in Motueka (Countdown, New world) so make sure you stock up on your way through. (Think BBQ, meat, cheese, salads, cooking oils, sunscreen) .If you need any camping / beach supplies there is a warehouse in Motueka, which is a department store in NZ where you can find whatever your looking for.
Fat Tui, Marahau
4.8 google rating
About a 10 minute drive from Kaiteriteri located in Marahau, the gateway to the Abel Tasman national park is The Fat Tui.
If you're a foodie like me and get disappointed with the mid-range food then make your way to the Fat Tui! This is a vibrant food truck surrounded by the lush New Zealand greenery in a very tranquil setting. These are by far the best burgers in the area. Packed with colourful nutritious ingredients, sprinked with fresh herbs and a side of homemade hand cut Kumara chips (sweet potato). For dessert they offer a cookie ice-cream sandwich which is also known by the locals in the area looking to fix that sweet craving.
Beached Whale , Pub / Restaurant
Located down Inlet road. The Beached Whale is a busy little pub that is known for its Woodfire pizzas and Fresh Mussels swimming in their divine homemade sweet chilli sauce. Alot of the time they have live bands that play here and there is a pool table in the pub aswell. The crowd is a mixture of older aswell as yonger people as the entrance shares the entrance to the backpackers. It's a great place to meet people if you are here alone.
Gone Burgers
When I was living on the Reserve these super juicy handmade beef pattie burgers became a staple part of my diet inbetween my hours working security. They also sell food that you would find on any fish and chip menu here. Its a takeaway style place and they get extremly busy in the summer so be prepared to wait or even order an hour earlier and take a walk. Perfect if you don't want to leave Kaiteriteri and want something to take to the beach.
